Country Wool Yarn - new in stock

Today we would like to introduce to you a brand new yarn added to the knitshop.co.uk yarn collection: Country Wool Yarn.

Country Wool Yarn is a 100% pure wool yarn and is unevenly spun, so it has a unique country style to it, due to it's coarse look. It gives an interesting texture once knitted up, feels soft and will definitely keep you warm.

Colours from left top: Primary Colours, Hot Pink, Bondi Blue, Corsa Rosso Red, Crosswalks,
Mustard, Zaffre Blue, Orange Peel, Rainbow, Harlequin, Forest Green & Spring Meadow

Country Wool Yarn is ideal for accessories and garments, such as wrist warmers, hats, gloves, cardigans and jumpers. However, the idea of what you make should be yours. Below, you will find a few yarn recommendations from our pattern catalogue.

in Double Moss Stitch Pattern.

The tension is somewhere between a 4ply and DK yarn, which makes it a sports weight or 5ply yarn. Tension on stocking stitch comes up to 24 sts x 36 rows using 3.25 mm needles. A 50g ball has a length of 195m and is available at the introductory price of £2.95 this spring.

Solid colours available: Buttercream, Raw Umber, Harlequin, Forest Green, Rosso Corsa Red, Orange Peel, Mustard, Hot Pink, Zaffre Blue and Bondi Blue.

Spring Meadow - greens and yellow, almost like looking at a meadow in spring, spring greens with yellow flowers!

Rainbow Country Wool Yarn

Here are a few patterns from our current pattern selection that could be used for County Wool Yarn.

REO Wrist Warmer would look lovely in any of the colours available in Country Wool Yarn.

Jasper Pull-Over definitely a great choice for Country Wool Yarn, we would recommend using the colours Bondi Blue and Mustard, or Raw Umber and Rosso Corsa Red. Or alternatively you could make it using Rainbow and Orange, or Primary Colour and Zaffre Blue.

And our third recommendation for today are the Snug Boot Cuffs. Make them matching the colour of your boots or in variegated Rainbow colours. No matter which colour you choose they are guaranteed to keep you warm and trendy!

Keep the chills away with Snug Boot Cuffs

It’s that awkward in-between time of the year. It isn’t yet spring, but the weather’s far too nice for staying indoors. Rather than be cooped up any longer, pull on your boots and coat and stride out for a healthy walk. If you pop a pair of boot-toppers on too, you’ll be in no danger of getting cold ankles or legs.
Snug Boot Cuffs knitted in Mustard Yellow Socks Yarn

knitshop.co.uk’sSnug Boot Cuffs are ideal. They’re a one-skein knit that’s both simple and seam-free. You need 100g of knitshop.co.uk Sock Yarn – the brighter and more colourful the colour, the better. We’ve used Mustard Yellow Sock Yarn in our example, but this 80% wool, 20% ramie yarn comes in a deep Bordeaux Red, vibrant Green and a choice of blues too.

These stylish and warm Boot Cuffs have been designed by
knitshop.co.uk owner Julieta I. Brandao

Snug Boot Cuffs are knitted in the round on either 3mm double-pointed or 3mm circular needles using an easy-to-remember combination of knits and purls. There’s no shaping involved, so this is a great first project if you’re new to knitting in the round. You’ll also find it useful to place a stitch marker at the start of each round.
As an alternative to Sock Yarn, you could knit your Snug Boot Cuffs using knitshop.co.uk’s luxuriously soft Alpaca Fino Yarn and take your pick from even more gloriously colourful shades. Alpaca Fino comes in a choice of 20 shades including Burnt Orange, Peacock-Teal, Pink, Red and Moss Green.

snug, warm and comfortable,
a must have accessory for the cold-warm season!

knitshop.co.uk’s Snug Boot Cuffs pattern is a really fast knit, so you could check the weather in the morning and whip up a pair in time for your post-lunch stroll. Because there are no seams to sew, you only have a couple of ends to darn in once you’ve finished knitting.
Since each 100g skein of our Sock Yarn contains 300m of yarn, you could also make a short pair of matching wrist warmers from the rest of the ball – not bad for a total cost of less than £8 for the yarn and pattern http://www.knitshop.co.uk/knitshop-pattern/3010-snug-boot-cuffs.html.
